Ann and I had been together for about a year after hooking up at the El Matador bar in Prescott, Arizona. I was just out of the Army and traveled to Prescott to resume my forestry career with the Forest Service. I had never been in anyplace long enough to settle in since my earlier jobs required a lot of traveling. That changed in a hurry once I started hanging out with the wild group from my office.
